The back panel in the dress became a problem because in the fitting the panel needed some kind of dart. So I created the dart to look like it was in between the two changes of color in the fabric.
I did another fitting with her and it was puckering out funny. So I decided to redo the pattern by taking the back panel and tracing around it on paper. that way I have the shape of the pattern I need without a dart. It worked perfectly.

After doing a muslin mock-up and fitting, I cut out of the fabric and started to assemble the dress. As you can see the back piece is missing. The next post is going to talk about this.

After doing a fitting with the basic bodice, I manipulated the pattern to create the dress. This is a quick picture of what the pattern looks like.

Next I did a mock-up and fitting with the model to make sure it fit properly.

On April 16th,2011 my class has an annual fashion show we design 8 to 10 outfits. This is a blog on my progress on this one particular dress that I have designed for the show. I've started this dress and made the pattern and finished mock-up, did fittings and started on the actual dress. I will be posting on this material.
